LOON WAH first opened its door in 1978 in San Ramon, California, and then moved in 1980 to San Jose. In 1996, we moved again to a new own building.

Private banquet facility seats up to 250 customers.

“LOON” (龙), meaning Dragon, is a traditional symbol of Chinese royalty and nobility. In ancient time, the Imperial Robe of the Emperor was brilliantly embroidered with dragons as an emblem of prosperity and power. During the celebration of Chinese New Year, the Dragon Dance is performed to scare away evil spirits and ensure good luck and wealth for the coming year.

“WAH” (华), is the original character used for flowers and blossoms in ancient times. It was later replaced and took on a broader meaning that of splendor, brilliance, beauty, glory and grandness. It’s also widely used as an abbreviation for “China” or “Chinese”.
